  • No. 3 Rambelles pound Zias twice

CMI staff The third-ranked Angelo State softball team more than lived up to its lofty spot in the NCAA Division II poll on Sunday. Sophomore Carly Peters homered in each game of the series and the Rambelles needed just 10 innings on Sunday to pound out 35 hits — 13 for extra bases — in routing Eastern New Mexico University by scores of 24-1 and 11-3 at Zia Softball Field. ENMU (6-16, 1-5 Lone Star Conference) made Saturday’s series opener competitive in losing 15-10, but the Zias were no match on Sunday for the R...

  • County wasn't hiding settlement

I believe the editorial Clovis News Journal published Tuesday ("Commissioners should be more forthcoming") was irresponsible. It insinuated the county did something improper or was trying to conceal something from the public with regard to the Orlando Salas lawsuit. I take issue with that allegation. First, the Salas lawsuit was filed in the federal courts in 2008 and pertained to an incident that allegedly occurred at the Curry County Juvenile Detention Center between September 2005 and May 2006. This was prior to myself...
