  • Vacation mishap makes story

Hearing about students and families on spring breaks this last week or so has brought out a streak of jealously in me. I did spend a few spring breaks backpacking, though, and actually had one beach vacation when I was in college. It wasn’t your typical beach spring break, though. A buddy and I who were both into scuba diving at the time decided Blue Hole and Conchas Lake weren’t going to cut it any longer; we wanted warm salt water some reef action and an adventure. After researching the nearest good dive spots that wer...

  • Vacation to ocean ended too soon

So as the wizard tells her the way to return to Kansas, Dorothy dutifully clicks together her heels and incants, “There’s no place like home ... there’s no place like home ... there’s no place like home...” Yet with a hint of wistfulness in her voice, for the magic of Oz that she is leaving behind. Okay, I heard that last part from a lady talking about movies on the TV the other night; I never really noticed it myself. However, it rings no less the truth, since she is a movie critic and I am just a movie fan. It rings tru... Full story

  • Clovis’ future depends on water

I always have loved to call Clovis home. The amazing people of this area have always shown great heart, soul, courage and faith with any challenge we have faced. Now we get to face our biggest fight — the fight to secure water for the city we love. Living on the High Plains of New Mexico, I do not have the luxury to be able to say, “We won’t run out of water in my lifetime.” I have two grand...
