    On this date … 1975: Curry County Men’s Forty-Two League hosted its 25th annual dominoes tournament. The first tournament was held Feb. 26, 1951, in Ranchvale with 144 men playing at 36 tables. The league was formed by a group of railroaders and Clovis school faculty.     Staff report Longtime Clovis firefighter Shane Warner hired on as Tucumcari’s fire chief on Jan. 27. Two days later, he was asking the Tucumcari City Commission for permission to apply for about $400,000 in state Emergency Medical Services Act funds. The commission readily approved the request. Warner said the money will cover costs associated with ambulances and equipment for the city’s emergency medical services, and the purchase of a rescue unit for the Tucumcari Fire Department.     The New Mexican The Senate voted Monday to confirm Hanna Skandera as secretary of the Public Education Department by a vote of 22-19. Five Democratic senators joined 17 Republicans in voting for Skandera. The Senate action ends more than four years of political conflict, committee hearings and public testimony over her confirmation, which Skandera at one point called “a circus.” Gov.
