    CLOVIS — Family members of a man found shot to death Tuesday morning in Clovis say the matter is being investigated as suspicious. Clovis police said officers responded at 10:42 a.m. Tuesday to the 1100 block of North Prince Street and encountered a 26-year-old male with a gunshot wound.   • Rail replacement to result in temporary closures

    Due to new rail installations, there will be various closures at BNSF rail crossings over the next three weeks, according to a release from RoadSafe Traffic Systems. The work will begin Thursday and run through Feb. 5. Signs will indicate detour routes. Motorists are asked to be aware of road and rail crews in the areas and to plan for travel delays.     Eastern New Mexico can expect another short burst of wintry weather through Thursday night. The National Weather Service is forecasting snow showers and freezing rain across the region with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. Snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible on Wednesday and Thursday nights, NWS reports.   • Police detective charged with embezzling

    CLOVIS — A Clovis police detective has been charged with embezzling $166 from a man he arrested in June. Francisco Hernandez, 33, faces misdemeanor charges of embezzlement and tampering with evidence, court records show. Records show Hernandez is scheduled for arraignment on Feb. 3. District Attorney Andrea Reeb said he was not jailed because she and other officials “had safety concerns with him being a cop all weekend in the jail.” Hernandez could not be reached for comment.
