Financial items top CCC agenda

CLOVIS — The Clovis Community College Board of Trustees is expected to tackle several financial items at today's meeting.

The board will vote on a budget adjustment request for fiscal year 2017-18 and the proposed operating budget for fiscal year 2018-19, set to begin July 1.

Chief Financial Officer Tom Drake said the largest budget adjustment is for the energy performance contract, a project that involves several energy-savings improvements at the college, in the amount of $2,691,81.

"The rest are just adjustments that are made for the second half of the fiscal year to get us to June 30 and they're related to a few minor capital projects and some internal service department expenditures," Drake said.

Drake said the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018-19 is "very similar" to last year's budget, with the biggest changes being the inclusion of the energy performance contract and other capital projects, a $50,000 increase in state appropriated funds and a 2 percent salary increase for all full-time college employees, as approved by Gov. Susana Martinez last month as part of House Bill 2.

Also on the agenda for today's meeting, scheduled for 8 a.m. in room 512 at CCC, 417 Schepps:

• The board will vote on a proposal to increase salary for part-time faculty.

Beverly Aragon, administrative assistant to President Becky Rowley, said the current rate is $585 per credit hour and the proposed rate is $625 per credit hour, an increase of 6.8 percent.

• The board will hear a review of Upward Bound, a program designed to prepare high school students from low-income and first-generation college families for higher education.

All CCC grant-funded programs are required to make a presentation to the board once a year.

• The board will vote on the college catalog for the 2018-19 school year.

• Employee service award recipients will be honored. Aragon said CCC presents awards to employees after every five years with the college and 19 employees qualified this year.
