Creative Living: Upcoming show helps start day with peanuts

Information on using deColourant with sewing projects, using peanuts in breakfast recipes, and collaging a wall will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and at noon on Thursday.

Jen Fox will show how to use deColourant to add a personalized touch to sewing projects. DeColourant is a paste that removes dye from natural fibers in unexpected ways yet it doesn’t jeopardize the integrity of the fabric.

Shelly Nutt is the executive director for the Texas Peanut Producers Board, and she’s going to share some recipes to power up your morning featuring delicious, nutritious peanuts. She’ll also talk about the four types of peanuts and explain their differences. She’s from Lubbock.

Decorator Cassidy Self of Portales will demonstrate how to collage a wall. She suggests starting with a theme, then working from one lower edge to the opposite side. She’ll share some tips and techniques to hang accessories that will also make decorating easier.

Information on making a year’s worth of jackets from one pattern, using onions as a side dish and making vintage fabric covered button crafts will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at noon on Tuesday and at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Rae Cumbie is a custom dressmaker, artist and designer, and she will talk about how to have a year’s worth of jackets from one great pattern.

Kim Reddin represents the National Onion Association in Greeley, Colorado, and she’s going to share some ideas for using onions as a side dish paired with a protein or a vegetarian-based dish.

Author and designer Laura West Kong will show how to make vintage fabric covered-button crafts using embroidered linens and other heirloom fabrics.

Peanut butter banana overnight oats

1/4 cup powdered peanut butter

3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats

2 tsp. ground chia seeds

1 1/2 cups milk

1 tsp. 100 percent pure vanilla extract

1/2 small banana, sliced for topping

1 Tbsp. peanuts, chopped for topping

1 Tbsp. peanut butter for topping

In medium bowl, stir together powdered peanut butter, oats, chia seeds, milk and vanilla extract. Divide evenly into storage containers and refrigerate overnight. Before serving, top each with banana slices, chopped peanuts and a drizzle of peanut butter. Variation: Add fresh berries or chocolate morsels.
