Two killed in two-car crash in Clovis

State police working accident near Tolar

CLOVIS — Two were killed and another treated for injuries in a two-car crash Saturday afternoon in Clovis, while a four-car collision west of Melrose injured several others.

A release from the Clovis Police Department confirmed Tara Williams and Corey McKenna, both of Clovis, were killed in a crash at the intersection of 21st and Sycamore streets, which was reported to police at 12:13 p.m.

Williams was driving a green Volkswagen Beetle, with McKenna a passenger. The driver of the other vehicle involve — Bobby Kimbrough, driving a red Ford F-150 — was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center for treatment and released.

Clovis Police Chief Doug Ford said he believed there were no other individuals involved.

The CPD release said the crash remains under investigation.

Also still under investigation was a collision on US 60 near Tolar, details of which were still scant Saturday evening.

New Mexico State Police Public Information Officer Ray Wilson said “there were multiple patients transported, one of which was transported via helicopter.” He said he had not received information that any of the injuries were fatalities, but would provide updates as they became available. (Update: Wilson reported 15 people injured, but no fatalities from a four-vehicle crash.)
