One injured after crashing into electric pole

PORTALES — A woman was taken to the emergency room with non-life threatening injuries Friday morning after driving into an electric pole.

The driver, who went over the curb of 18th Street near South Main Avenue, was taken to Roosevelt General Hospital, according to Portales Police Department Public Information Officer Charlie Smart.

While the pole was broken, no power outages were caused and a crew with Xcel Energy was dispatched to repair the damage, Smart said.

The road was closed for several hours for repairs following the accident, according to a press release from the city of Portales.
