Street closing for drainage improvements

CLOVIS — A portion of Seventh Street — the stretch from Norris Street to the Clovis Civic Center — will be closed for about four months due to drainage improvements, officials say.

The section will be closed going eastbound and will have one lane open going westbound for the duration of the work, Clovis City Manager Justin Howalt said.

Howalt said the work is part of phase one of the Seventh Street renovation project and will include extending two 60-inch pipes from Marlene Boulevard to Norris Street.

He said detour signs have been set up in order to guide drivers through the work zone.

"We ask if it is at all possible to adjust your driving habits to account for the road work that is going on," Howalt said.

Howalt said the work began on Tuesday and is scheduled for 120 calendar days.
