1982: In a Clovis News-Journal photo labeled, "Wildcat Cookette Moms," the Clovis High School cafeteria cooks dubbed themselves the "Wildcookettes" after they dished up 300 meals in 15 minutes for those attending the annual Wildcat football banquet.

The nine cooks - Georgia Forsyth, Jean Hopper, Carol Johnson, Marie Morris, Rose Moya, Laura Beth Newberry, Viola Pickel, Marjorie Summers, and Sally Truitt - had stayed late the night before to prepare and serve the banquet meal.

1952: Members of Delta Kappa Gamma of Roosevelt and Curry counties held their annual Christmas banquet and initiation of new members at the Cal Boykin Hotel in Portales.

Mrs. A.E. Mallory served as toastmistress for the evening.

Guests included the Eastern New Mexico University Madrigal Singers under the direction of Robert Page, and Mr. and Mrs. Grady Moore from the university.

Mallory chaired the committee, which made all arrangements for the event. Others assisting her included Miss Robbie Allen, Miss Alta Glasgow, Miss Kate McManaway, Miss Luella Madden, Mrs. W. Newell Page, Mrs. Hazel Petty, Mrs. Deborah Smith, and Mrs. Anna K. Wilton.
