Empty Stocking Fund profile - Nov. 24

November 24, 2017

Today’s family in need: This military family has three boys, ages 4, 2 and 9 months.

The family did not ask for help, but the woman’s mother reached out from her home in Lambertville, Michigan.

“My daughter and son-in-law live in base housing there in Clovis,” she told Salvation Army Corps Officer Lt. Kelly Berggren.

“They are struggling to make ends meet. She called me beside herself with how they will provide any sort of Christmas for their three small children this year.”

The Michigan woman suggested her daughter contact The Salvation Army because it had helped her when she was a young mother.

“I assured this person The Salvation Army would help,” Berggren said.

About the Empty Stocking Fund: The fund is a joint venture of the Salvation Army and The Eastern New Mexico News. The fund helps low-income families with toys, food and clothing.

How to help: The Eastern New Mexico News is accepting Empty Stocking Fund donations at its newspaper offices in Clovis (521 Pile St. or P.O. Box 1689, Clovis 88101) and Portales (101 E. First St. or P.O. Box 848, Portales 88130).
