CCC board will discuss finances

CLOVIS — Finances will dominate the agenda at the Clovis Community College Board of Trustees regular meeting this morning.

At the meeting the CCC board will hear the quarterly financial report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2018.

College President Becky Rowley said the board receives these reports each quarter to keep it updated on the financial health of the school.

Also on the agenda for today’s meeting set for 8 a.m. in room 512 on the CCC campus:

• The board will vote on transferring donations made directly to CCC to the Clovis Community College Foundation.

Rowley said the foundation uses almost all of the money from donations to provide scholarships to students, which was the original intent of the donations to the school, and by transferring the donations to the foundation they will accrue more interest.

“The foundation invests their money strategically, they have a pretty good return,” Rowley said.

• The board will vote on the renewal of CCC’s health insurance policy with Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Rowley said CCC’s insurance prices will rise 8 percent this year.

“We have had very stable insurance prices,” Rowley said. “Our increases have been very minimal and one year we didn’t have any increase. In an environment where we’re hearing about increases of 20 or 30 percent, 8 percent is OK. All things considered that’s very good.”

CCC provides voluntary insurance to employees and retirees.

• The board will vote on fees associated with a new phlebotomy course to be offered starting in the spring semester.
