Mix, match dressy with casual

P laying dress up can be the highlight of your day, especially when the occasions call for you to show off your best. The first rule of fashion is to know what to wear that's appropriate for the occasion. This is easy when you follow one simple rule. Knowing what to pair your outfit with to dress up or dress down your look is key. Here are three simple and fabulous examples that are still trending and will afford you comfort and great style for your summer soirees.

Boyfriend jeans with a dressy top: Also known as a loose fitting pair of jeans; always looks great with a fancier top. Whether you’re wearing a shimmering blouse for evening or a loose-fit silk spaghetti strap, your boyfriend jeans will give you a more playful, toned down look, enabling you to work a bit more with accessories and shoes. The tip is to add denim to a dressy piece, your best way to dress down any evening-inspired mix.

Graphic tee with a pencil skirt: This is one of my favorite looks. What's better than wearing your favorite graphic tee to a lunch with friends. We all have a casual tee that we love to mix and match. The idea of this look is to dress up your otherwise lounge-at-home T-shirt. A graphic tee is always going to give you the laid back feel no matter what you pair it with. But to make it chic, pairing it with a dressier bottom and maybe a strappy heel is great. Bottoms to pair are pencil or pleated flowing midi-length skirts.

Dress up your sneakers: Yes, it’s still hip to pair your sneakers with everything. We're no longer carrying our pumps midday at work nor packing a comfy pair to change into later. Mix and match your favorite sneakers with your skirts, dresses, shorts and more. No matter if you're wearing leather or florals, there's a sneaker out there for every look.
