Tell us about the Student 2 Student program you're involved in?

Student 2 Student is a program that aims to make the transition for civilian as well as military students moving into a new community as easy as possible. Student 2 Student is all about student leaders opening up and being excited to make new friends and meet new people. I have learned that the acceptance and kindness S2S stands for can be infectious.

What do you like about being a charter member for the (Student 2 Student) program and how did you get involved?

I was first introduced to S2S my eighth-grade year when my English teacher, Mrs. Walton, selected me along with a group of other students to attend the initial student training at Cannon. This past year, I was chosen to attend the National S2S Training Summit in Washington D.C. At the summit, I was inspired by the incredible things that other students were doing with their programs. Recently, I applied for the Frances Hesselbein Student Leadership Program and was selected along with eleven other students worldwide. It was an experience that I will never forget. Cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy taught us how to be effective leaders, how to unite a group in achieving a common goal, and many other valuable leadership lessons. We also got the pleasure of speaking to a true leader, Frances Hesselbein. Her story is amazing, and I aspire to have a fraction of the impact she has had on society in her lifetime. As a charter member, it has been incredible to see how the Student 2 Student program has grown in Clovis, in addition to the impact it has had in the community. Being a fairly new program to the community, we still have a long way to go, but I cannot wait to be a part of everything S2S is going to do in the future.
