PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University freshman Melina Gryschka was named Lone Star Conference track athlete of the week, following her 5,000-meter win at the Bobby Lane Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
Gryschka, who comes to Portales from Garbsen, Germany ,finished with a provisional time of 16:54.89, nearly a minute ahead of the second-place finisher.
Her time in the event is tops in the conference, and second in Division II.
