Janet Romero does work with kids, veterans.

Janet Romero was born in Fort Sumner and raised in Clovis. She is the youngest of seven children. She is the daughter of Juanita Harris and the late Vincent Lovato. She has been married to Jack Romero since 1985.

She worked mostly in banking until she decided to switch to property management only a few years ago. She is a volunteer in the community and has been for many years. She does work for veterans and children, including the American Legion Riders. She lead "Bikers against Bullying," raising bully awareness by holding parades and conducting presentations in area schools. The organization also hosts children's Christmas parties for underprivileged kids.

Romero enjoys traveling and meeting new people. She is proud to have had the opportunity to volunteer with the American Legion Auxiliary, Dept. of New Mexico. She is a member of the auxiliary. She has volunteered with United Way, Leadership Clovis and the Clovis Citizens Police Academy and was ambassador with the Clovis Chamber of Commerce.

What do you like about your job?

Meeting new people from different parts of the world, and helping them get settled here in Clovis.

What's your idea of a perfect day?

Waking up at the lake, drinking coffee, spending the day with my family, no make-up, messy hair and no phones.

Tell us a story about your childhood.

Playing jacks with my mom and Monopoly with my brother. I always had to be the banker.

When you were a kid, what did you think you'd be doing as an adult?

I wanted to be a judge.

What's your favorite song of the moment?

"The Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston has always been my favorite.

What's your favorite TV show, past and present?

"Investigation Discovery" (ID), "NCIS," and game shows.

What's so great about your favorite sport?

I enjoy watching my grandkids sports activities. They keep us busy with football, baseball, softball, track, band, basketball, soccer and, of course, my favorite NFL team. Go Broncos!

Tell us about your greatest individual accomplishment?

Being the youngest department president in the state with the American Legion Auxiliary.

Who's invited to your fantasy dinner party and why?

My great-grandmother, Genoveva, the one I'm named after (my middle name). I'd like to find out about our Native side of the family.

Tell us about your favorite place traveled?

Hawaii or Washington D.C. One is peaceful and beautiful while the other is fascinating with so much history.
