Curry County clerk hospitalized

CLOVIS — Newly elected Curry County Clerk Jo Lynn Queener was in stable condition in a Lubbock hospital early Tuesday night, according to her chief deputy clerk, Annie Hogland.

Hogland said Queener was undergoing tests and awaiting results to “confirm a diagnosis,” but said she did not know the nature of Queener’s illness.

She was taken to a Lubbock hospital by ambulance early Tuesday afternoon, County Manager Lance Pyle said.

“What the family has authorized me to say is that she is being hospitalized in Lubbock and please keep her in your prayers,” Pyle said.

Queener was scheduled to attend a Leadership Clovis outing in Santa Fe on Monday and Tuesday, but became ill over the weekend and did not make the trip.

Queener in June defeated two other candidates, incumbent Rosalie Riley and Nikki McDermid, to win the Republican primary in the clerk’s race.

She was unopposed in the November general election.
