• Today — Junior Varsity teams play Texico C at Dora, 4 p.m.

• Friday — Junior Varsity and Varsity teams play Eunice, 4 p.m.

• Saturday — games against Evangel Christian have been canceled

• Monday — Junior High and Junior Varsity Boys teams play in Tatum, 4 p.m.

• Tuesday — Junior High, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams play Floyd at Dora, 3 p.m.

Rescheduled homecoming

The Dora Coyotes will host Eunice for homecoming Friday. Games start at 4 p.m. with junior varsity teams playing in both gyms. The two varsity games will be played in the Guy Luscombe Gym with homecoming festivities to follow. There will be a dance in the Ag shop, weather permitting, admission is $5 per person.


The Dora BPA Chapter attended the Regional Conference on Dec. 17, 2016, in House. Twenty-five members competed in Work Skills Assessment Program contests and all 25 qualified to progress to the state competition. The Parliamentary Procedure Team consisting of Gema Villanueva, Shania Ramirez, Charlyn Simpson, McCray Clark, Jessica Barron, Raigan Beggs and Velinda Fierro, placed first.

The Presentation Management Team consisting of Maislyn Clark, Madisen Porter and Lydia Barron, placed first.

The following are other winners in the competition:

• Kirsten Tapia placed first in Interview Skills and third in Intermediate Word Processing.

• Adrian Baeza placed second in Interview Skills. Sarron Simpson placed first in Integrated Office Applications.

• Andres Tarango placed first in Graphic Design.

• In Extemporaneous Speech, Maislyn Clark placed first and Shania Ramirez second.

• Isaac Carrasco placed first in PC Service & Troubleshooting and in C++ Programming.

• Madisen Porter placed second in C++ Programming

• Lydia Barron placed first in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications

• Austen Jones placed first in Database Applications.

• Kaitlyn Kircher placed fourth in Intermediate Word Processing

• Allie Luscombe placed first in Digital Media Production and Megan Stacy placed second.

• Caitlyn Rooney placed first in Medical Office Procedures and April Fleming placed second.

• Charlyn Simpson placed first in Advanced Word Processing

• The Administrative Support Team consisting of Allie Luscombe, Austen Jones, Kaitlyn Kircher and Brogan Fraze, placed first

• Broadcast News Production Team consisting of Caitlyn Rooney, April Fleming, Hannah Stacey and Dakota Belcher, placed second. The state Leadership Conference will be in Albuquerque Feb. 20-22.

Science fair

Dora elementary students, third grade through six grade, with the help of science teacher Mrs. Laura Wilbanks, will have science fair projects displayed Monday and Tuesday during school hours. The public is invited to help judge projects.
