Rug differences discussed on show

Information on remodeling bathrooms, bible journaling, and making a bold lacy chocolate cake will be the featured topics on "Creative Living" on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon. (All times are Mountain.)

Did you know that bathrooms are the second most commonly remodeled rooms in the house? Andy Wells, vice president of product design for MasterBrand Cabinets, will share some tips for homeowners who are considering a bath remodel. Wells is from Jasper, Indiana.

Marjolaine Walker is the owner and designer of Twelve Stones Scrapbooking" in Ottawa, Canada, and she's going to talk about bible journaling and how this is helping many people be consistent in reading it. Journaling bibles normally have large margins which provide ample room to journal, draw or doodle.

Nancy Siler is going to show how to make a bold lacy chocolate cake that uses a chocolate version of the popular buttercream icing as well as malted milk balls for decoration. She is with Wilton Brands in Woodridge, Illinois.

Information on choosing rugs, tips for coping, and making casseroles will be the featured topics on "Creative Living" on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Latriece Brooks is an interior decorator, and she's going to talk about rugs and explain the differences between an authentic oriental rug and power loomed rugs. She also says that the origin of a rug is determined by its geographical location and the type of knot used in creating the rug. Her business is Brooks Interiors in Clovis.

Laura Dellutri is going to share six tips that will help you better cope with busy schedules and busy lives. Her company is Healthy Housekeeper, Inc., and she lives in Overland Park, Kansas.

Chef and cooking school owner John Vollertsen (known as Chef Johnny Vee), will share some reasons why he became a chef and demonstrate making casseroles. He's from Santa Fe and owns the Los Cosas Cooking School.

Pecan and herb-crusted salmon

• 6 salmon fillets, 5 to 6 ounces each, skinned

• 1 tablespoon olive oil

• Salt and pepper, to season

• 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

• 1/2 cup finely chopped toasted pecans

• 1/4 cup plain breadcrumbs

• 1 teaspoon kosher salt

• 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

• 2 tablespoons lemon zest

• 1/4 cup capers, rinsed if salted

• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill

• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme

Brush fillets with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place salmon in a roasting pan, flesh side up, and smear with mustard. In a medium bowl combine remaining ingredients. Mix well and then pat mixture onto mustard-spread fish, pressing well to keep it in place. Preheat oven to 450º F. Place salmon into oven, crumbed side up, and immediately lower temperature to 400º F. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the fish loses its translucency. Serve immediately with Green Chile and Cheddar Polenta or buttery mashed potatoes.
