Sherlockians a determined bunch

I have loved all things geeky since I was little, but there is one show that launched my obsession into overdrive.

“Sherlock” is the show that got me obsessed with Benedict Cumberbatch, solving crimes and reading fanfiction.

For those not familiar with the show, it is a modern retelling of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories. So Sherlock and Dr. Watson are not in Victorian London, but modern London.

It is the same Sherlock and John. They have a great friendship. Sherlock is brilliant and John is always there for his friend.

There are so many reasons for loving this show, but for me it’s the acting. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock and Martin Freeman plays John Watson.

Cumberbatch’s Sherlock is arrogant, rude, dismissive, manipulative and even a self-proclaimed, high functioning sociopath.

On paper, Sherlock is not a lovable character at all, but I love him. He may be rude, but deep down he is a good man and would do anything for John.

Cumberbatch is a brilliant actor and I can write a whole column on him. Freeman is also a brilliant actor and he brings humor to the show.

With these two actors with obvious chemistry, watching them solve crimes is fun.

I am not the only one who is obsessed with this show. There are millions of fans who call themselves Sherlockians.

We are considered crazy because we get three 90-minute episodes a season and we have to wait two years for new episodes.

The last episodes also end with cliffhangers. The only thing that keeps the fans from going insane is writing fanfiction, drawing fan art, and discussing the show.

Even after two years of waiting, the fans are still obsessed and still want more. Other shows would not survive that long without new episodes, but Sherlockians are determined.
