Food Storage 101

On Aug. 5, Kelli Morrison presented a class of 20 tips for making your own mixes to save time and money.

Morrison taught about making copycat Bisquick mix to use in many recipes. By spending one day of spare time making a large mix, you can save lots of time when you need it later by dumping a mix in with a few added ingredients and you're done.

Because you can buy in bulk quantities for ingredients, you can save money as well. Mixes can be stored in air-tight containers on shelves, refrigerators or freezers depending on the ingredients of the recipe.

There are resources like the "Complete Make-a-Mix Cookbook" by Eliason, Harwood & Westover to library e-book loans, http://www.budget101.com.

Nest meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the LDS Relief Society Room. The topic will be Freezing Foods and Substitutions for recipe ingredients.

Beta Phi

Beta Phi members and one guest supplied their booth with water, pickles, cookies, muffins etc. at the Ethnic Fair held at Hillcrest Park on July 19. They also had a 5k run and talent show.

Collene Baldwin, Sandy Heath, Laura Loflin, Patsy Lorenz, Beverly Miller and Cathy Romero were in attendance.

There were spouses from Cannon Air Force Base as participants. They were really good and if you missed it this year than make sure you go next year.

PRMC Auxilary

Plains Regional Medical Center Auxiliary held a Fashion Show and Tea Aug. 2 at Central Baptist Church in Clovis.

Kathy Elliott of Elliott Marketing was emcee. She introduced each model with a brief summary of their background. Clothes and accessories were provided by Catos, Sears, Bealls, Maurices, Rebecca’s in Texico and the hospital gift shop.

Pink ladies and their requests were served a variety of delicious finger foods. The tables were uniquely decorated by pink ladies.

The Victorian table decorated by Debbie McCart and Becky Hahn and the patriotic stars and stripes table decorated by Norma Nagel were chosen by the judges as the two best decorated tables.

Names were drawn for door prizes. All proceeds from the fashion show go into the PRMC Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
