You might be a trendsetter

Nieka Style

Do you fashion yourself a trend follower or trendsetter? There are a few factors that go into setting trends versus following them.

We all know that the common fashion trend starts from the famous designer who influences the A-list celebrity you idolize and so the trend is passed to you.

But by the time you can get your hands on it, the fashion world is on to the next best thing. Depending on your location, when the stores start carrying those trends, they are already “so last season.”

But where do designers get their inspiration? Other famous people, fashion icons, street style, who cares? They’re inspired from just about anyone or anything.

Fashion is an art. Just like any other art form, it is only when the artist has a huge following of others who love what they love is when it becomes a trend.

Following trends just might be the natural thing to do. We want to be different but we want to fit in as well. No matter how much you want to set yourself apart from others, we all tend to conform our sense of style in some way. But we do our best to be original.

Whether you identify yourself as being a trendsetter or not may have something to do with your surroundings. If you’re around high-fashion people, then you’re probably a bit competitive and are always dressed to impress. You may be a trendsetter.

If you aren’t surrounded by fashionable people, then you might be a trendsetter but you’re not enthused to showcase it. Or you just don’t care.

If you have many inspirations but some of the things that you love in fashion just don’t mix, you may be setting trends. If you ever feel like you’re blending in too much and love to throw people off by adding something a little bit kooky to your outfit, then you’re probably a trendsetter.

Last but not least, even if you only have a few to none of a following to your unique sense of fashion, I would still say you’re a trendsetter.
