Staff report
Clovis is preparing to show its appreciation for the men and women stationed at Cannon Air Force Base.
The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce, Committee of Fifty, and the Clovis Industrial Development Corporation are coming together to host the 25th annual Cannon Appreciation Day slated for Aug. 8.
Courtney Bailey, Chamber of Commerce event coordinator, said the event is a chance for military personnel and their families to enjoy a social gathering with members of the community.
“The event is an opportunity for the Clovis community to show their appreciation for Cannon and the people who serve there,” Bailey said.
According to Bailey, the event is in its 25th year and invites those stationed at Cannon to enjoy an array of festivities at Unity Park.
The event, which starts at 11 a.m., features music, food and games all day.
Bailey said there will be $4,000 worth of prizes given away throughout the day.
Bailey said the games include volleyball, horseshoes, and cornhole.
