El Portal DAR

The May 23rd meeting of El Portal chapter was held in the home of Vicky Stratton. Stratton called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. and conducted the opening rituals followed by the President Generals message. The National Defense , Constitutional minute and Indian minute were read by minutes.

Reports were given by the Chapter Officers and committees. The state NMSODAR Workshop will be held in Clovis July 31-Aug. 3.

It was reported that members and South East Region Chapters would be donating money for organizing a CAR Seven Caves Society in Clovis. The El Portal treasury will handle all money for the society until the chapter is officially established and have a bank account opened.

Refreshments were served by Vicky Stratton. The program was given by Magann Rennels of Jefferson, Texas. It had a unique geneology background.

PRMC Auxiliary

Four Plins Regional Medical Center auxilians, Patricia Mondragon, Vivian Lake , Debbie Lasiter and Norma Nagel attended the District III meeting in Carlsbad on April 12.

Workshop speakers gave tips on safety in everyday life and demonstrated strength training exercises. A talk was given on “Katie’s Law” which allows law enforcement officers to take a DNA sample from people arrested.

Beta Phi

Five members and one guest attended the Beta Phi social at K-Bob’s Steakhouse in Clovis on April 12 for their 60th birthday. Collene Baldwin, Sandy Heath, Laura Loflin, Patsy Lorenz, Brian Lorenz and Beverly Miller all enjoyed their lunch.
