Last season: The Rams eked out a pair of one-point District 4-3A wins — 55-54 at Ruidoso, 65-64 at the RAC — en route to the district regular-season championship.

Last time out: Ruidoso was routed at Class 4A No. 1 Roswell High 87-39 on Wednesday, while Portales lost at Class 2A No. 1 Texico 54-50 in overtime on Tuesday.

Of note: Portales, which has dropped two in a row, will be without the services of senior F Daniel Sanchez for a fourth consecutive game. Sanchez, injured Jan. 26 at Moriarty, likely won’t be back before the postseason. … The Warriors opened district play at home last Friday with a 55-53 win over Lovington. … The Rams have played seven games at home (3-4), seven away (4-3) and seven on neutral courts (4-3). … Against seven common opponents, Ruidoso has posted a 2-9 mark while PHS is 4-5.

GIRLS

Last season: The Lady Rams rolled to easy wins in both matchups, 55-17 at Ruidoso, 51-27 at the RAC.

Last time out: Ruidoso hasn’t played since losing at home to Lovington 51-36 in the district opener last Friday. The Lady Rams beat Texico 48-42 on Tuesday at Texico.

Of note: Ruidoso’s only wins have been over Class 1A Cloudcroft (twice) and Aztec. The Lady Warriors’ second win over Cloudcroft, a 62-32 road decision last Friday, snapped a 12-game losing streak. … Ruidoso has six losses this season by 30 or more points. … Freshman F Lia Mosher leads the Lady Warriors in scoring (10.7 ppg), rebounding (12.9 rpg) and blocked shots (3.5 bpg). She’s one of seven freshmen on the roster. … Since losing at Class 5A top-ranked Clovis on Jan. 21, the Lady Rams have won four in a row.
