Last time out: The Lady Mustangs lost at New Mexico Highlands 83-64 on Nov. 21. The Zias posted their first win of the season on Saturday, downing Oklahoma Panhandle State 73-66 at Greyhound Arena in their home opener.

Of note: USW, a member of the NAIA and the Red River Athletic Conference, is playing its fourth game against an NCAA Division II opponent and is counting all of them as exhibitions. The Lady Mustangs have lost the first three, home-and-home to NMHU and at Western New Mexico. Their only win was over Dallas Christian 98-50 in a tournament at Northern New Mexico University on Nov. 2. … This is the first meeting between the Zias and Lady Mustangs. … Information is sketchy on USW, but the team’s leading scorer through four games is 5-5 senior Anika Hostos, who is averaging 15 ppg and 6.8 rpg in the four regular games. … This is the second-to-last game before the holiday break for the Zias, who play at Wayland Baptist on Dec. 13. Their next game after that will be on Jan. 6 at home against Lubbock Christian.
