Variety truly spice of life

I thought I didn't own any black leather. The more I thought about it, I realized that I most certainly do. I have a sweet little pair of black patent leather pumps. Still, not really the right styling for this rally.

For the first time in my life, I found myself smack in the middle of the Golden Aspen Rally in Ruidoso. It was the 44th year of “Aspencade.”

The first night in the hotel we slept with the window wide open so we could enjoy that cool mountain air. It also seemed like a fun idea to listen to the rumble of those Harleys going up and down Sudderth Drive. And indeed it was a treat. Until about 1:30 in the morning when one guy revved and revved his engine right outside our room. (The next night we decided to keep the window closed.)

We were there to hike, and I'm just laughing all over again at the sight of us in our little shorts and hiking boots and trail mix, mingling with these characters clad in black leather, chains and bandanas. Variety is truly the spice of life. What an incredible slice of that zesty American pie!
