DORA — Top-ranked Lake Arthur pulled away in the second half on Saturday to beat No. 3 Dora 78-44 in a battle of 6-man contenders.

Junior Eddy Arzate returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown to pull the Coyotes (5-2) to within 15-14 in the second quarter. Dora was then driving for a potential go-ahead score late in the half, but the Panthers (6-0) returned the favor with a pick-six that boosted their lead to 23-14 at the half.

“We didn’t play a bad game, but we broke down on defense and didn’t play as well as we could have,” Coyotes coach Mason McBee said.

Dora’s next game will be a 3 p.m. kickoff on Saturday at home against Floyd.
