ALAMOSA, Colo. — Junior midfielder Alyssa Prince scored her second goal of the season with just over 16 minutes left, and Eastern New Mexico University outlasted previously unbeaten Adams State 1-0 in women’s soccer on Tuesday.

The teams battled to a scoreless tie well into the second half before Prince took a pass from sophomore midfielder Carolyn Armijo and beat Grizzlies goalkeeer Rachel Zabawa.

Sophomore goalkeeper Xan Ortiz earned her second consecutive shutout for the Zias (2-2), stopping six shots on goal by Adams State (3-1). Ortiz had a shutout on Sunday in a scoreless draw with sixth-ranked Colorado School of Mines at the ENMU pitch, and has now gone nearly 200 minutes of match play without giving up a goal.

The goal allowed the Zias to avert a possible third consecutive overtime match. ENMU improved to 4-0 all-tiime against the Grizzlies.

The next outing for the Zias will be at noon on Sunday against 19th-ranked St. Edward’s at the ENMU pitch.
