ALBUQUERQUE — Junior Daisa Hastings found the net near the middle of the second half on Friday and the Clovis High girls soccer team made it stand up for a 1-0 win over West Mesa at the APS sports complex.

Hastings scored on a direct kick from the left side, about five yards outside the box. Clovis (3-2) dominated the match, outshooting the Mustangs 16-3 on goal, but the Lady Wildcats were never able to pull away.

“We had some good (scoring) chances,” Lady Cats coach Traci Sievers said. “Our defense did a good job of helping us hold possession.

“Overall, we played a pretty good game.”

Junior Shelby Jones earned the shutout in goal, making three saves for the Lady Cats.

The Lady Cats have a quick turnaround, playing at Rio Grande in a 10 a.m. kickoff today.
