Being a senior in high school can be time consuming nowadays. Just ask seniors Kris Yager and Hunter Haley of Elida High School.

Haley participates in four sports and is a cheerleader, and that doesn’t include numerous clubs that she is in. Yager has dreams of becoming a lawyer, but in the meantime competes in three sports, and other extra-curricular activities, such as Future Farmers of America.

“I want to become either a corporate lawyer or go into contract law and become a top sports agent,” said Yager, who sports a 4.0 grade point average. Yager said he plans on attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and plans on majoring in finance. After attaining a bachelor’s degree, he hopes to attend law school.

Until then, Yager has to finish up his senior year, which includes one more season of his favorite extracurricular activity, which is baseball.

“My favorite activity is baseball because I excel at baseball. I’ve been playing since I was 3 years old,” said Yager, who has been playing varsity baseball at Elida since his eighth grade year.

“Kris is a very intelligent young man and a very good student. He challenges me as a teacher to challenge him,” said Kelly Torske, Yager’s math teacher at Elida for the past four years.

Haley also has big aspirations.

“I plan on becoming a dental hygienist,” said Haley.

“Hunter is a very, very bright young lady. She is very talented academically as well as in athletics and the rodeo,” said Torske, Haley’s teacher as well.

Rodeo seems to be Haley’s forte. She competes in breakaway rope, goat tying and team roping.

“My favorite activity would be rodeo, because I plan to rodeo in college, and I’ll always be able to rodeo throughout my lifetime,” Haley said.

Both students are in the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
