Officials believe Charles W. Fleming, 54, could be hiding in eastern New Mexico or west Texas, Chandler said. He is charged with 20 felony counts of embezzlement.

Fleming is accused of diverting the money from a New Mexico Cattle Growers Foundation to his personal account at a Clovis bank. Fleming was serving as treasurer of the foundation when it happened, according to Chandler.

Chandler said Fleming was arrested July 2 in Lubbock. He failed to appear at a hearing July 22 in Magistrate Court in Clovis.

According to the press release, anyone with information is being asked to contact New Mexico State Police at 763-3426, or Chandler at 769-2246.

Callers may remain anonymous and any tip that leads to the arrest of Fleming may result in a reward from Curry County Crime Stoppers of up to $1,000, the release said.
