Ravens win - by divine intervention

Here are a few tidbits to prep you for today's 47th Super Bowl in New Orleans' Superdome:

  • Kick-off between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers is at 4:30 p.m. (MT) on CBS. It will be streamed on NFL.com and CBSSports.com.
  • Domino's, Pizza Hut and Papa John's will deliver approximately 5million pizzas.
  • The head coaches are brothers John (Ravens) and Jim (49ers) Harbaugh.
  • The halftime performer will be Beyonce in a reunion with Destiny's Child. Alicia Keys will sing the National Anthem.
  • Thirty-second ads will cost up to $4 million--up from last year's $3.5 million. Last year, NBC aired 62 ads totaling 40.5 minutes--not including 30 more for their own promotions.
  • The 49ers are 5-0 in Super Bowls. A win would match Pittsburgh's record for wins.

The Ravens are 1-0. This will be the first-ever meeting between two teams who have previously appeared in and never lost a Super Bowl.

  • Dallas (5-3) and Pittsburgh (6-2) share the record for most appearances.
  • Teams that have lost four times include New England (3-4), Denver (2-4), Minnesota (0-4) and Buffalo (0-4, from 1990-93).
  • Other teams that have appeared but never won are Arizona, Atlanta, Carolina, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle and Tennessee.
  • Teams that have never appeared are Cleveland, Detroit, Jacksonville and Houston.
  • I pick the Ravens, 27-24. If they win, I also predict that devoted Christian Ray Lewis — father of six with four women — will credit divine intervention.
