Letters to the editor: Abandoning God has ruined nation

When I was a young child growing up in the Baby Boomer generation, Elvis was coming on the scene.

Many of our parents and grandparents said this music with the suggestive pelvis motions would be the downfall of our country. Was it? Did it contribute to the demise of our country's moral status?

Undoubtedly the answer is a yes, but what really contributed is that we invited God out of our schools and our country and even out of some of our churches.

At least Elvis announced regularly there was only one king and that was Jesus Christ.

We choose political correctness over what is right in almost everything because we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

I have something to tell you. Congress is hurting my feelings.

Where is the statesmanship that should go with the job? How dare you vote a raise for yourselves while most of the common people suffer?

I have an idea: Why not elect all women?

Women already know how to live on a budget. Women settle disagreements without testosterone getting in the way. And most of the women I have met, are behind the scenes preparing the way so I can look and remain patriotic.

Think about it. What we have isn't working!

My wife and I raised three daughters and each has their own amount of a rare commodity (common sense).

We certainly have nothing to lose. This letter was spurred by my 12-year-old granddaughter listening to a song by The Band Perry titled "Better Dig Two."

It seems to me to have more morals than what we listened to growing up.
