Students of the month for August

The following students were chosen for student of the month for August:

Senior Audriana Underhill; junior Rachel Ryu; sophomore Daniel James; and freshman Hannah Cabeldue.

These students were treated to pizza and soda pop in the main office with PHS Principal Melvin Nusser and were presented with a special letter and a Student of the Month Certificate.

FFA state fair results

PHS FFA students took a booth that earned second place. The booth consisted of a topographical map of New Mexico, six facts about state economy and five crops that are grown in New Mexico. In addition, two students had the opportunity to exhibit hogs at the fair.

Drama dept. production:

The Drama Department of Portales High School is in rehearsal for their 2012-2013 opening. This year, they are opening with "Harvey" by Mary Chase.

Opening night will be Oct. 27 with the house opening at 6:30 p.m. and the curtain going up at 7 p.m. The Sunday Matinee will open at 1:30 p.m. with the curtain going up at 2 p.m. Cost is $5 for the general public $3 with a student ID.
