Altrusa

The Altrusa International, Inc. Club of Portales met July 23 at noon at the Central Annex. President Nellie Dyer called the meeting to order. There were 17 members and two guests present. Lori Bohm led the opening ceremonies. Gaynelle Thomas drew for the Queen of Hearts.

The minutes were approved and correspondence was read. Debra Peacock handed out information from the Sunshine Committee. Sue Bracksieck, service committee, asked members to bring school supplies to the meeting July 30th at Marnee Stratton's home to be given to United Way.

Pat Willis and Sheryl Borden updated the club on the Membership Teams contest and recognized those who have scheduled events.

Linda Leaming announced that the board will meet Aug. 6. The next regular meeting will be Aug. 13. Cozetta Moore introduced Andy Mason, who talked about the Smile Train project and performed the song he wrote for the organization. Leaming presented Mason with a Certificate of Appreciation from the club.
