Dairy farmer re-elected to board

Clovis dairy farmer Wayne Pall has been re-elected as vice chairman for the Dairy Farmers of America, Inc.'s Board of Directors.

Palla is a member of DFA's Executive Committee and chairman of the Southwest Area Council. He serves on the board for National Milk Producers Federation and is a member of the U.S. Dairy Export Council.

Palla and his son, Eric, have an integrated farm operation with dairy, crop farming and cattle ranching. In conjunction with their three dairy farms, they farm 16,000 acres of corn, wheat, alfalfa, sorghum and green beans, and ranch 66,000 acres for their Holstein heifers and 1,100 head of beef cows.

Leaders are elected by members from each of DFA's seven regional areas for positions at the local district level, on area councils and for the national 51-member dairy producer Board. These elected leaders are responsible for guiding management and establishing the policies and business direction of the cooperative.

Loan committee holding meeting

The New Mexico MainStreet Revolving Loan Committee will hold a quarterly meeting 1:30 p.m. June 6 at the Bataan Memorial Building in Santa Fe.

The committee, which is a part of the Historic Preservation Division, Department of Cultural Affairs, is responsible for making loans to owners of eligible properties of state MainStreet communities.

Loan applications to be discussed, according to the agenda, include one from RC Auto Sales of Clovis for facade, roof window and door rehabilitation; and one from The Smithson Block of Clayton, for facade, window, door and interior rehabilitation.

New business will include updates on the loan program initiative from June to August, and MainStreet communities targeted for technical assistance.
