Police blotter - Feb. 29

Samplings of recent calls made to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:

Sunday, Feb. 19

  • At 3:12 p.m., an officer responded to Yucca Drive in reference to a battery. A woman with two lacerations on her right ear was crying too much for the officer to understand. She refused hospital treatment but told the officer she was driving when a black vehicle began following her then almost ran into the rear of her vehicle. She said when she stopped at an intersection, two females, who she knew wanted to fight her, exited the car and approached her window, pulling it down. After she told them she did not want to fight because her son was in the car, the two females began to batter her through the window, pulling her hair and pulling the ring from her ear and slamming her head into the steering wheel. She said she then drove away and went to her aunt's house. The officer observed visible injuries and warrants were issued for the arrest of the two females.
  • At 4:13 p.m., an officer was dispatched to North Main in reference to a domestic situation. The officer approached a couple who was arguing in their front yard. The man said he had two vehicles, one registered in his name and one in hers. He said he was trying to get the keys to his vehicle from her and the woman would not give them to him. He said he grabbed her jacket to get the keys and the jacket tore when she pulled away.

The woman told the officer she asked to use his car and he would not let her then pinned her arm behind her back and tore her jacket. The couple agreed to take a night apart to calm down and talk later. The case was cleared.
