Curry County Finance Director Mark Lansford has confirmed he resigned his position on Monday.
County Manager Lance Pyle said he received a copy of Lansford’s letter of resignation on Tuesday. Pyle said Lansford leaves the county in good shape financially and Pyle wished him the best in his future endeavors.
Lansford filed a grievance against County Commissioner Robert Sandoval in January. Neither man would comment on the grievance.
Lansford, a certified public accountant, has served as finance director and purchasing manager since 2005. His salary was $73,341.
Lansford declined to cite any specific reasons for his resignation.
“The Finance and Purchasing staff has performed in an exemplary manner and I will miss them greatly,” Lansford said in a prepared statement. “I am pleased that the county is in outstanding fiscal condition. When I started at the county, there was approximately $418,000 in reserves in the general fund. As of Jan. 3, the general fund reserves have increased to approximately $4.6 million.”
Pyle said recruiting for Lansford’s replacement will begin Sunday with posting an advertisement on the county website. Pyle said the county will be looking for candidates with a strong financial background and experience in purchasing.
The salary range for Lansford’s replacement is $54,657 to $81,985.
