Police blotter — Feb. 8

Samplings of calls made to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:

Friday

• At 3:30 a.m., an officer responded to a convenience store on Second Street in reference to a theft.

A man waiting at the store told the officer a man had stolen his mother’s guitar and he just wanted it back.

The caller showed the officer where the man who had taken the guitar lived.

The man inside the house told the officer that he did have the guitar. He said he had tried to give it back twice. He told the officer he could have the guitar to give to the complainant.

The officer found the man in possession of the guitar had a warrant for his arrest in Clovis. The officer took the man into custody and gave the other man back his guitar.

• At 7:29 a.m., an officer was dispatched to West 18th Street in reference to an open back door. The inside handle of the door was lying on the ground.

The director of the facility made an official report, saying it appeared the door had been jerked from the outside, placing stress on the lock. She said no items were taken. At this time, there are no suspects and no items were taken.
