Tire shop operator 'shocked' at raid

An operator of Victor's Tire Shop on Wednesday expressed "shock" about Tuesday's Portales drug raid and wants customers to know the shop and attached La Paz restaurant remain open for business.

The three men arrested, including tire shop owner Victor Olguin, are the only ones accused of being involved with the drugs, said Mallory Holguin, Victor Olguin's daughter-in-law.

"This came as a shock to the entire family," she said.

Holguin claims business has slowed down in light of the raid; on Wednesday, they were seeing about half of the customers they would see on an average day.

"It's sad. The whole thing came as a complete shock," Holguin said. "We had no idea whatsoever that anything was going on."

Olguin, 50, Jose Pina, 54, and Jose Ornelas, 36, were arrested in connection with what police said was $51,000 worth of cocaine delivered to the tire shop.
