Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

My turn: Big move to small town

Am I the only one who has ever felt like their life could be a TV show? I’m not talking about exploiting my family for cheap laughs, or painting myself orange and living in New Jersey, but like a real premise for an actual dramedy.

I just moved here from San Francisco, so consider me the new girl, and not the awkward Zooey Deschanel type of “New Girl.” My life is here for now as far as God has planned it.

I call my life a show because I made a dramatic move and not in terms of location, but this is my first job after graduation in my actual field and journalism is my passion.

I admit that socially, there’s not much to do here, so it feels like a predicament. But I’ve only been here two weeks and I’ve already met some of the nicest people that display what small towns in America are all about — community.

So as I embark on my 23rd birthday this Saturday, what will Portales have in store for me in this 23rd season of my life? A new love interest? Life-changing events? If you want to read about an outsider’s experience here, you can count on me weekly and in this way you can “keep watching.”
