Police blotter — Jan. 11

Samplings of recent calls made to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:

Friday

• At 10:14 p.m., an officer was dispatched to another officer’s location where a driver had been pulled over. The second officer suspected the driver had been drinking and driving.

The vehicle had run a stop sign and the officer located a 40-ounce bottle of beer in the vehicle.

The man was urinating on his vehicle and the officer asked him to finish and step to the back of the vehicle. The man had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

The man told officers he had “enough” to drink. The man gave officers permission to perform the field sobriety tests but then refused to perform the tasks given to him.

The officers placed the man under arrest for driving while impaired. Officers also discovered the man’s license was suspended.

Sunday

• At 4:34 p.m., an officer was dispatched to West Ninth Street in reference to a burglary. A couple told the officer they had left their house at 1:30 p.m. and when they returned, they noticed the front door had been slightly opened. The couple said a TV was missing and a blanket.

The man said it could have been a man he had been having problems with who stole the items. The couple did not know the value of the items and the officer was unable to locate the possible suspect.

The officer did not observe any forced entry. The case is active pending further investigation.
