A man found guilty of kidnapping and raping a Clovis woman in 2010 was sentenced to 27 years in prison Friday, according to a news release from the office of Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matthew Chandler.

Jesus Oscar Dominguez, 22, a native of Mexico, was convicted by a Curry County jury in September. Dominquez was convicted based on DNA evidence collected from the crime scene and sent to the New Mexico Crime Lab for DNA.

Dominguez was charged with raping the woman at gunpoint at her home on Feb. 21, 2010. The victim was unable to identify him because he masked his face with a hooded sweater.

Semen was collected and sent to the New Mexico Crime Lab for DNA examination. A match was found in a database of DNA samples from anyone arrested of a felony crime, also known as “Katie’s Law.”

Dominguez was jailed on unrelated charges when the match was made.
