Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Agencies performing admirably

Born and raised in Clovis, I have never witnessed what has gone down this year.

Local law enforcement has spent more time literally in the field than the farmers due to the increase in theft of copper and other materials.

I also have never seen such activity in grass fires as this year. I have a scanner that I use for weather and local information for my area, and to listen to the fire department do its job is something that Hollywood has been unable to protray.

Especially when they get a call for a structure fire. The precision and respect they show for each other is nothing short of fantastic. One person says he is in charge and gives instructions and the responsible unit repeats it so there won’t be any mixups and they follow instructions and the job gets done. Hats off to our local fire department.

I would be proud to have worked for either one of these departments, but I’m gonna let the trained ones handle it. There is so much professionalism and respect between both law enforcement and the fire department, it is comforting to know these people work in our community and put their lives ahead of ours for our safety.

Keep up the good work.
