Tanker accident leads to closure

A tanker truck accident between Clovis and Texico has led to an extended road closure Monday night, according to New Mexico State Police Capt. Jimmy Glascock.

Glascock said the tanker truck was traveling east behind two trucks between Texico and Clovis. The driver lost control on the icy roads. The truck landed on its side, and the tank was ruptured, spilling 6,600 gallons of diesel. No serious injuries were reported.

Glascock also reported:

• U.S. 60/70/84 is closed from Texico to Vaughn.

• N.M. 209 is closed from Pleasant Hill to Tucumcari. Glascock said they won't stop local traffic, but advise that travelers do so at their own risk.

• N.M. 469 is closed from Logan to Grady.

• N.M. 54 is closed from Logan to the Texas border.
