An Amarillo man captured at a Clovis motel with drugs and a .38 caliber handgun was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Andrea Reeb said Norman Bonner, 33, pleaded guilty to four felony charges: Possession of a controlled substance, possession of dangerous drugs, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Reeb said Clovis police were tipped in October 2010 by police in Amarillo that a dangerous fugitive was possibly living at the Kings Inn motel. Clovis police said they found Bonner at the motel with the handgun wrapped in a towel, a pipe with methamphetamine residue, and a large amount of prescription pills that didn’t belong to him.
Reeb said Bonner will now be transported to Texas to face additional felony charges.
