Nov. 6 — Police Blotter

Recent samplings of calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:

Monday

• At 8:16 a.m., an officer responded to South Avenue B in reference to an auto burglary. A man told the officer that between midnight and 8 a.m., someone gained access to his truck through the unlocked passenger side door and took a CD player and speaker, which he valued at $150.

No fingerprints or footprints were recovered. The case is inactive pending further information.

• At 3:46 p.m., an officer was addressed by a woman on North Avenue B, who told him a man pulled up in a vehicle, got out of his car, threw a rock at the vehicle parked in her grandparents driveway then returned to his vehicle and drove away.

There was damage to the hood of the car and the windshield. The woman said she did not want to press charges or report the damage. She just did not want the man to return and cause more damage. The officer told her a close patrol would be done of the area.

The officer was dispatched to the residence at 4:07 p.m. in reference to a vehicle circling the area. The officer passed a car then pursued the car and made contact with the driver, who identified himself. The officer told him the woman in the house had identified him as the man who threw the rock.

The officer observed the man smelled like liquor, had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. The man told the officer he had had a drink 30 minutes prior. The officer performed a Field Sobriety Test. The officer placed the man under arrest for driving under the influence of liquor.
