Church honoring religious figure

Freedom New Mexico

Immanuel Lutheran Church will join thousands of congregations Sunday in honoring the bicentennial of the birth of Carl Ferdinand Wilhelm Walther during 10:30 a.m. services at the church, located at 1021 N. Prince Street.

Born Oct. 25, 1811, in Saxony, Germany, Walther migrated to America in search of religious freedom. He helped unite Lutherans and founded Concordia Publishing House in 1869.

A clip from a new movie about Walther will be shown during the 9:15 a.m. Bible class, and the service will include two hymns from Walther.
