My turn: Plenty to do over weekend

I heard a lot of positive things about last weekend’s Peanut Valley Festival. Sadly, I was out of town for the 10th birthday and fourth birthday celebration of two special children.

There’s nothing more entertaining than watching children ranging from 2 to 4 years old amped up on sugar. The time with my nieces and nephews was exhausting but fun as always.

Some fun events to be had this weekend are the Oktober-Feast at 5 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Portales for $5 to $8 a ticket and the 4Troops concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Marshall Middle School Auditorium in Clovis for $12 to $17 per ticket.

There’s also the Boy Scouts’ Fright House from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Matt 25 Hope Center in Clovis, which will include games and fire safety lessons.

More information about weekend events can be found in the Portales News-Tribune and Clovis News Journal or their websites.

All of the events are for the entire family and are at an affordable price, so grab the kids and check them out.
